Title

The benefits of Paediatric Kaye walkers

Detail

Join the Kaye Way and Discover Enhanced Mobility

Kaye Posture Control walkers are superior-quality lightweight imported posterior walkers. These walkers are specially designed to enhance a normal walking pattern. There are numerous aspects to the Kaye Walker that are influential in their own special way in terms of facilitating posture, enhancing the child’s ability to be mobile and ultimately improving their quality of life.

Kaye Walkers have a number of different options and accessories that allow one to customize the walker to your individual needs.

By placing the support behind the child, the child adjusts their position to a more upright posture, as there is nothing to lean forward on. The Kaye Walker does not place a barrier in front of the child and therefore between them and their environment. This promotes better proximity to activities of daily living and promotes function.

There are several different technical modifications and benefits to using a Kaye Walker. For example:
·         The walkers with four wheels are designed to be less energy consuming and improve rhythm and timing. Ratcheted rear wheels prevent backward movement of the walker so that the child walks safely with a more appropriate rhythm.
·         Pulling a walker eliminates the abnormal stop-start walking pattern produced when a child must step, stop, place the walker forward then step again.

At CE Mobility we strongly advise that Kaye Walkers are assessed for correctly in order to ensure correct size and specifications. It is also essential that initial training with regard to postural control and correct walking pattern is done in conjunction with your physio /occupational therapist.
